Record Partners Provides High-Volume Critical Record Digitization with New Technology
Implementing Eight OPEX® Falcon®+ Scanners Empowers Record Partners to Capture Over a Million Images Each Month
The Background
Record Partners, located in Brisbane, Australia, provides critical paper record digitization services, specializing in working with mold, water, age, and smoke affected documents for public and private institutions across Australia, including NSW Health. The company handles and digitizes large backlogs of archives in its environmentally controlled, flood and fire-resistant facility. Record Partners’ staff is trained to safely manage and process environmentally-affected and sensitive records with comprehensive security.
The Challenge
Formed out of a necessity in the market, Hamish Wyatt founded Record Partners around a major government project to provide a new ‘remediation to digitization’ solution in a cost-effective, timely manner. With volume targets and quality expectations key project constraints, the technology the company would ultimately select needed a reliably high throughput capacity and ability to handle fragile documents with ease.
Key Challenges
Need for a solution that could handle a high throughput
Contracts have tight timeframes
Need for the solution to handle fragile, mixed document types
The Solution
During its research, Record Partners discovered OPEX® and chose the company as a technology partner, not only because of the technical solutions OPEX offered but also because of the ongoing partnership and support OPEX offers. Soon after, Record Partners implemented eight Falcon®+ One-Touch document scanners powered by OPEX CertainScan® document imaging software. These scanners not only keep up with the high throughput demands but also help limit the number of people needed to do the job in less time. The Falcon units are designed to pull apart for easy cleaning, a key part of the workflow given the aged and often dusty and moldy nature of the documents.
The government project involves 24,000 boxes of archives and records that were indexed and remediated by Record Partners and its project specialists in rural NSW, and then relocated to Brisbane. The files scanned and the nature of health records require high-quality digitization and review for quality assurance. The company runs the scanners for 13 hours a day, with two shifts of nine people using OPEX’s CertainScan software. With the Falcon+ scanners powered by OPEX software, Record Partners can deliver over 1 million scanned images per month.

The Future
Now that Record Partners has an established technology solution in place, the company is ramping up scanning throughput via ongoing software and process enhancements. Recruiting staff has been very simple compared to recruiting for a standard scanning solution, and employees enjoy working with the scanners and software.
As part of Records Partners’ value proposition, the company is a reseller of OPEX’s scanning equipment to the Australian government, helping to provide scanning efficiencies through OPEX’s technology. Record Partners aims to help government operations achieve similar levels of efficiency and empower existing workers with more capacity.
